
Biography
Dr Matan Ben David is a Hepatobiliary, weight loss and general surgeon at Mater Private Hospital Townsville and Townsville University Hospital (TUH). After completing his surgical training in Israel, he pursued fellowship training at The Chris O'Brien Lifehouse, The Royal Prince Alfred and St. George Hospitals in Sydney, as well as overseas training in France.
Dr Ben David consults and is the clinical lead for North Queensland on a range of complex liver and pancreas conditions. He is also the director of trauma care at TUH.
Dr Ben David has published extensively in the field of bariatric surgery and has given numerous presentations in national and international professional meetings.
In addition to his clinical work, he is an entrepreneur in the field of medical device innovation and is currently the co-founder and board member of Exero Medical, developing an early anastomotic leak detection device.
